UPDATE! At last
This is how my environment currently looks, i have halved the size of it since the last udate, as it was far too big. Just need to add in some smaller "filler" assets and finish of some materials. Then get the lighting sorted, happy with how its going though.

Update
Just a small update to show where I'm up too. Most of the big assets are now in the scene, so i'll be making and adding smaller assets to fill up the scene and give it some more personality.
This weeks work will include more assets being made, more textures and a start on the library area and the written report.

Textures and another layout Change
Over the last few days I have been texturing some of the smaller assets i have made, and also had another go at the layout of the bar area. I think it looks a lot better now with the added height. Still not sure on the over size of the room. It looks nice but i think its going to be very hard to fill the area and keep it looking interesting.
This is showing the new layout of the bar, including a draft of the roof.

Filler Assets
These are some of the smaller assets i've been working on for the bar area of the tavern.
Will be working on more structural assets as well as textures over the next week. I've also blocked out the library area in UDK.

Quick change up
Changed the layout slightly, pretty pleased with where this is going now. This is the environment in its most current state.
Next thing on the list to do, is make more assets. Get the roof and rest of the support beams into the level.
This is my current material for my stone wall. Needs a bit more work but fairly pleased with is.
Bar area redesign.
I decided to make the bar area more interesting, as the previous version was pretty dull.
New layout. Made the whole area less square with two different height ceilings. Added the support columns and beams and made the fireplace much bigger so its more representative of the fantasy/medieval look I'm going for.
Textures on here are just to help define the areas.

Quick normals test
Quick normal map test for my walls.
In the end I've decided to go with the higher poly version of these walls, as the normal maps don't give enough depth.
Initial blockouts and ideas
This is the initial blockout for the bar area, containing simple assets.
This is my first blockout of the library area
Introduction
The idea of my project is to create an environment inspired by the Wheel of Time book series written by Robert Jordan. I have decided to create an Inn/Tavern loosely based around the Queens Blessing as describe in the books, though i will add my own spin on things. I will be creating the assets in 3ds Max and presenting the environment in UDK.
My first posts will be a quick run through of the work i have been doing towards my final year project over the last few months.
